Long-Term Care: Essentials for Implementing the Reform of Requirements

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the Reform of Requirements or Long-Term Care Facilities in 2016 with a three-part phased implementation.

Many of the regulations were effective during phase-one, which had an implementation date of November 28, 2016. The second phase of implementation will be effective November 28, 2017, and will include significant changes to long-term care facility practices such as the the completion of a Facility Assessment and development of a QAPI Plan.
