What Can We Expect from President Trump?

President Trump’s words could definitely be interpreted in a way that might lead us to believe we’re heading towards an “anti-regulation” future. But I think a different, prevailing sentiment from the President will keep the foundations of compliance programs intact.

In my opinion, President Trump wants to be viewed as a President who is giving American taxpayers a “good deal.” And because of that, I believe enforcement (especially when it comes to ferreting out fraud and abuse in taxpayer-funded healthcare programs) will remain a dominant theme.

Frankly, the trend of an increased use of the False Claims Act in healthcare is bigger than the President and I think it would take an Act of Congress to change it. When the government receives multiple dollars in return for every dollar it invests in enforcement, no elected public official is going to argue against it. So in the end, I think that regulations will change but I think the foundation of compliance will remain the same.
