The Misadventures of Ada: ICD-10 Cartoon, "Thanksgiving and 2020" Y93.C9

With the 2020 holiday season now upon us, this year’s Thanksgiving is bound to look a little different than in years past for all of us. For Ada, her plans consisted of hosting her small circle of friends Zoe, Sully, and Kevin at her home. Ada had also invited her mom, dad, brother and sister-in-law to join them remotely via a Zoom dinner party.

As everyone settled in around the table, her mom, dad, sister and brother logged in to the dinner party from their phones and laptops. Mom and dad had a few technical glitches logging in, but before long, everyone had settled in for what was surely the strangest Thanksgiving on record.

It had been months since many of them had seen each other, so their excitement was appropriately palpable. Once the “hellos” were said and the initial toasts were made, Ada went back to put the finishing touches on her sides of cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, copper carrots, potato salad, and yams. Her brother and sister-in-law showed off the duck they’d prepared. Then, Ada’s oven beeped, announcing to all that finally, after hours of preparation, continual basting, and cooking, their turkey was finally done. So she raced to the kitchen, plucked the turkey from the oven and raced back to the table to show it off to all, She was so excited she could hardly contain herself.

This being Ada, her excitement spelled trouble for the evening’s impending celebration…

Whether you plan on traveling home to be with family, or staying put to host a virtual dinner, we hope you stay safe, healthy and have a great time.
