Don’t Fall Behind.

CMS won’t be enforcing the Affordable Care Act’s Skilled Nursing Facilities Compliance Requirement until November of 2019. That may sound like a long way off, but it will take most organizations over a year to truly design and implement an effective compliance program. If you haven’t started yet, you’re already behind.

Experienced compliance professionals can name the seven elements of an effective compliance program off the top of their heads. However, the requirements of a nursing facility compliance program are super different. There can be either 8 or 11 requirements depending and it takes research to understand all of the unique nursing facility compliance requirements.

For example, Nursing Facilities are required to have, “Consistent enforcement of the operating organization's standards, policies, and procedures through appropriate disciplinary mechanisms, including, as appropriate, discipline of individuals responsible for the failure to detect and report a violation to the compliance and ethics program contact identified in the operating organization's compliance and ethics program.”
