This Fourth of July Weekend, now that Ada, her friends, and much of her community have been vaccinated, her town made special plans to host the largest and most thrilling holiday celebration anyone had ever seen.
There were ferris wheels and games, cotton candy and spritzers, prizes and contests. There was, in short, a whole lot of community love and kindness and fun. Of course, there was also a hot dog eating contest. The contest had been a local tradition dating back some 100 years, and something Ada had always had a secret desire to participate in - and this was finally going to be Ada’s year to participate.
This being Ada, she probably should have known better. Because after chowing down hot dog number 10, something(s) weren’t quite sitting right…
