Healthcare compliance programs are entering a new phase.
According to Healthicity’s 2025 Annual Compliance Checkup Report, most organizations now have mature foundational structures in place. Formal compliance programs, annual risk assessments, executive reporting relationships, and governance oversight are widely established across the industry. Respondents rated overall compliance program effectiveness at 7.41 out of 10.
But the data also reveals where pressure is building. Many compliance teams continue operating with limited staffing and manual processes while managing expanding regulatory complexity. More than two-thirds of organizations still rely heavily on spreadsheets and document-based systems to manage compliance activities.
At the same time, AI has rapidly emerged as one of the industry’s biggest compliance concerns, signaling a major shift in how organizations are thinking about documentation oversight, governance, and future risk management.
The findings suggest healthcare compliance is evolving beyond a reactive oversight function into a more strategic operational discipline — one that increasingly depends on scalability, technology, and proactive risk intelligence.
