Back to Basics: OIG’s Compliance Guidance for Physician Groups

With all that we have to keep up with these days, at work and at home (which are often one and the same), it’s become increasingly easy to fall into routines. Whether your routine means managing incidents, training employees, reporting to the board, running exclusions checks, or conducting assessments and audits, just staying on top of these projects is a full time job. But it also has the potential for us to fall into a pattern of checking boxes, and making sure all of our i's are dotted and t's are crossed. Which is all well and good, but not always what is needed to ensure our programs are continuously improving to meet new challenges we may face each day.

To break out of that rut, I often recommend compliance professionals take some time to get back to our professional roots. While this advice may seem counterintuitive on its face, some of you might realize just how refreshing it can be to step out of our day-to-day roles, and get back to our roots.

Which is exactly why last month we started a new webinar series , “Back to Compliance Basics.” I launched this new series with the goal of helping you spend an hour every month revisiting the best practices of compliance management. It is my firm belief that by going back to the OIG’s regularly-updated compliance guidelines, we’re reminded of the foundational principles we built our careers on. So, on Wednesday, March 31, join us for the second installment of the series, “Actionable Insights for Physician Groups,” where we’ll take you back to the basics and help you:

  • Identify Specific Risk Areas
  • Understand Reasonable and Necessary Services
  • Respond To Detected Offenses and Develop Corrective Action Plans

And just for attending, you'll receive 1.2 HCCA, CCB CEU certificate credits. I hope to see you there!
