New Tips and Tricks for Coding E/M and Other Time-Based Services

It’s no secret among us coders and auditors that there has always been confusion around documentation and reporting requirements of time-based services. That confusion stems from the fact that not all time-base codes are created equal.

In many cases, the time can be rounded up. While in other cases, the code selection is based on the exact time providers meet with patients, face-to-face. And that doesn’t even touch on the confusion that happens because the documentation requirements are different depending upon the code type. And now, there will be new CPT® E/M changes coming into effect in 2021. It can all feel like a bit much. A never ending quest for truth. But it’s never too early to become your organization’s expert in time-based coding.

Which is why we’ll be hosting a new webinar titled, The Complete Course to Solving E/M and Other Time-Based Services. During this 60-minute presentation (followed by a Q&A with yours truly), I’ll teach you the new documentation requirements for reporting E/M services based on time and other common time-based services. During the presentation on Thursday, December 19, you’ll learn documentation and coding tips for a number of services, including:

  • Evaluation and Management Services
  • Behavioral Health
  • Physical Therapy and much, much more

Oh, and there’s also an AAPC CEU available to purchase, should you need to stock up. Hope to see you there!
