March 2019 has been a busy month for additions to the OIG’s Work Plan. They’ve added 16 new items.

In February 2019, the OIG has made multiple additions to its Workplan.  There are some significant additions, so let’s look at a few of them.

1. Genetic Testing Company Agrees to Pay $1.99 Million to Resolve Allegations of False Claims to Medicare for Medically Unnecessary Tests –

For a Medicare patient to be eligible for coverage of post-hospital extended care services, they must be an inpatient in a hospital for not less than 3 consecutive calendar days before being discharged from the hospital.

As compliance professionals, many of us are acutely aware of the published Corporate Integrity Agreements (CIA) that the OIG publishes on their website.

In November we saw some new updates to the OIG Workplan. Make sure you review all of them to see if your organization will be affected.
