How To Measure Your Compliance Program's Effectiveness The Right Way

At the recent HCCA Compliance Institute, the OIG announced a new resource guide entitled, “Measuring Compliance Program Effectiveness.” The new resource guide contains over 400 examples of measures, categorized by the seven elements of an effective compliance program.

As most compliance professionals know, having a compliance program alone is not good enough for enforcement agencies or for your board/leadership. The compliance goal, the magic that we all aim for, is to have an effective compliance program.

How do you know if your program is effective? The same way you find out if your new shoes are the right size: with measurement. We should all be conducting regular compliance program effectiveness reviews, either in-house, or by using an independent third-party expert. Ideally, we should all be using a combination of these two.

But what criteria should be used to measure effectiveness? The measures can vary from program to program and it’s clear that there’s not a one size fits all answer.

Attend our webinar, How to Measure the Effectiveness of Your Compliance Program, and learn about the new resource guide just released by the OIG and how to measure your program for effectiveness.
