As a compliance officer, it’s important that you know the business you’re in. The business doesn’t exist for the compliance program, instead, the compliance program exists for the business.

I get it. Being a compliance officer doesn’t sound all that thrilling to the general public. When I explain my job to friends, I can see their expressions glaze over as they struggle to suppress a yawn. Yet, as far as I’m concerned, my job is amazing.

In early February of this year, I wrote an eBrief predicting the future of compliance under the new Presidential administration. My guess was that regulatory burdens would decrease.
