It’s that time of year again! Compliance programs are performing annual risk assessments and creating annual audit work plans in preparation for 2018.
Most of us rely on the OIG Work Plan to guide us. In our latest compliance survey, 44% of compliance programs used the OIG Work Plan as their primary driver when evaluating their risks and creating annual plans. The OIG Work Plan is continually updated and that’s why it’s so important to review it at least annually but ideally more frequently. As you know, the OIG Work plan summarizes new and ongoing reviews and activities that the OIG plans to pursue. There’s no better way to prepare than by going straight to the source.
Based on the recent OIG updates, you should overhaul your compliance plan to accommodate for changes regarding opioids in Medicaid and extreme use concerns and questionable prescribing, the use of funds by Medicaid Managed Care Organizations, Medicaid services delivered using telecommunication systems, and much, much, more!
Tune in to our upcoming webinar, 2017 OIG Work Plan Updates, Simplified, where we’ll review all of this and more so you can adequately prepare your 2018 work plan and have a compliant and successful year.
