The Misadventures of Ada: ICD-10 Cartoon,"4th of July Blister" S00.522A

“....O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”

The Fourth of July is one of Ada’s favorite holidays. So she was more than happy to accept an invitation from her friend, Bob, to attend the local festivities. They found themselves outside, enjoying the sun and a BBQ, patiently waiting for the sun to eventually set and the firework spectacle to begin.

“I can’t wait for the fireworks tonight!” Ada told Bob, barely able to contain her enthusiasm. They positioned themselves by the snacks and went to town on carmel corn and chips. “Have you tried the salsa?” Bob asked. Enthusiastically, Ada helped herself to a big, delicious bite of salsa and was blown away by the delicious taste. But then she noticed something was wrong. She began to sweat and her mouth was on fire.

“Are you okay?” Bob asked.

“So. Hot.” Ada gasped.

It looked like Ada’s head was about to explode. Bob didn’t think that the salsa was that spicy so he was surprised and felt a little guilty for telling her to try it.

“Does my tongue look okay?” Ada stuck out her tongue, “Aaaah.” Bob took one look at her tongue, covered in newly forming blisters, and didn’t hesitate to walk her over to the EMT tent for a check up. This would only happen to you, Ada.

Happy Fourth of July, Everyone!
